Branching points
Five permanent public art works at Skylarks Nature Reserve, Nottinghamshire. Constructed in CorTen steel, each piece over time transforming into a striking rust orange as it naturally oxidises, blending with the changing colours of the surrounding landscape. Connecting to existing infrastructure across the reserve (viewing screens, bridges, fences, platforms), each Branching point is purposefully integrated, rooted to its locality with the inclusion of a grid reference relative to the viewers position as well as a collection of species which have been recorded in the direct vicinity.
Accompanied with a thought provoking quote concerning the natural world, each Branching point has been designed to invite visitors to reflect on their relationship with to nature, and to tune into the surrounding habitat, ecosystems and wide variety of species present.
