About our process
Our approach to all of our creative practice and commissioned work is to connect ourselves through research and visits in order to create our own understanding and experience, establishing a deeper relationship with a place, its people, or with a collection and project. We have a passionate and immersive methodology towards producing our work, paying close attention to the fine details so as to produce thought provoking, exciting and memorable art works and opportunities.
Our skills are in amplifying a projects ambition, identifying new opportunities and creative approaches, and to share our passions and knowledge of the natural world, contemporary art and creative engagement.
Our practice is multidisciplinary and we are as much artists as we are naturalists and curators, with our variety of skills we are able to connect to a whole project perspective. As artists we often contribute to marketing, graphic design and interpretation for public engagement also.
With a commitment to establishing new relationships and long-lasting, memorable experiences for all involved, be it communities, stakeholders, volunteers and audiences we facilitate creative dialogues that produce creative outcomes which are powerful and leave a legacy.
We collaborate where possible with scientists, researchers and campaigners to bring significant insight and wonder to our work and practice.
“At the National Forest Company we have worked with INSTAR as part of the programming for the Timber Festival, our flagship annual event to celebrate trees and woods through arts and culture. Timber Festival is based on bringing people closer to nature in an inspiring outdoor setting, so using INSTAR’s creativity and experience was a natural choice. As a creative partner, their innovation and ideas, speed of response and quality of execution mean that we have been surprised and delighted by their work. Where other artists might deliver a service, INSTAR’s approach to co-creation and ability to bring ideas to life, as well as their sheer dedication makes them stand out from the crowd’.
